  • October tis the Season for Audits

    Vince Flores and the Quality Team in Gardena have successfully closed out a very busy month of Customer Audits and Certifications. Following a 5 day visit to Charleston to assist Larry Mercer and the Charleston team with their AS9100 Rev C Surveillance 2 audit, Vince returned to Gardena to successfully lead 6 customer audits that covered over 14 days of “audit time”.

  • A Place for Everything and Everything in Its Place

    In addition to our “human capital,” one of the most important assets at Impresa Aerospace is the inventory of products that we manufacture for our customers. Now that many of our customers are moving to “lean/min-max” replenishment ordering systems, our manufacturing strategy has evolved from that of “Just in Time,” to that of forecasting long-range customer demand and then building safety stock to buffer against fluctuations in demand. To accommodate this change in manufacturing strategy, we also needed to change our process for protecting, storing and staging finished goods inventory.

  • Out with the Old in with the New.

    It’s the end of an era in the Gardena Facility as we replace our current spot welder with a new and upgraded model. The new Janda spot welder is a significant step-up in both capability and capacity. Not only will the new welder continue to support the high rate 737 valve Adapter Assemblies, the upgraded capability will position us for future growth in welded assemblies. In fact, the team is currently reviewing a new customer work statement that the new machine will enable us to support.

  • New Downdraft Table Improves Quality and Boosts Health and Safety.

    The Paint area has added an 8 foot downdraft table to facilitate improved dust control which will result in better finish quality and improved standards of health and safety. The new table is large enough to accommodate 2 sanders simultaneously and includes HEPA filters.

  • Gardena Gets High Marks on AS9100 Rev C Audit.

    Recently Impresa Aerospace Gardena successfully completed their annual AS9100 Rev C audit. The audit was conducted by registrar ISA (International Standards Authority, Inc.).

    The 4 day audit focused primarily on Management, Contracts, Product Realization, Sub-Tier Control (Purchasing), Document Control, Control of Non-Conforming Product and Corrective/Preventive Actions, and Continuous Improvement. The audit generated no Major and three minor findings.
